Context

A few months after the launch of the major revamp of the app, we noticed 58% of users weren’t taking any action post-onboarding.

Discover

Based on the user interview learnings from the UX research team at Scripbox, we understood a few things:

Unclear Starting Point:

Post-onboarding screens showed empty states, but lacked clear direction.

Low Motivation:

Users didn’t understand the value of actions like setting a risk profile or tracking external investments.

Fragmented Experience:

Despite a solid structure, there was no guided flow, users were left to navigate on their own.

The idea

We needed a system to guide users, build habits, and drive actions. So I came up with Wealth Checklist, a task-based feature that nudges users to do essential steps for their financial journey. With the concept in place, I jumped straight into Figma to iterate, using existing components and layouts.

Rough iterations using existing system components

To motivate user engagement, I added a gamified layer with: Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, and Pro Investor. Each with actions tailored to the user’s financial journey.

For better discoverability, I added a small widget card inside one of the main tab. Instead of leaving users to figure things out on their own, the checklist gave them a clear, guided path forward.

Proposed design :

  • Actions are tailored to each user's stage.

  • Progress bar to show a game-like journey.

  • Archived tab to see older completed or expired actions.

  • A consistent set of evolving actions.

Proposed design

Proposed design - Entry Point :

  • Widget-like card placed at the top of a main tab for maximum visibility.

  • Recall of inner screen elements in the card

  • Tapping an item takes users straight to the relevant action

  • One completed item stay visible to reinforce positive progress

Cutback

Due to time constraints, we couldn’t move forward with the originally proposed version. To stay on track while preserving the core functionality of the Wealth Checklist feature, I decided to scale back the gamification elements.

Outcome

Within the first month of the feature release, we saw

22%

Number of users completing an action within 3 days post-signup

~2x

Interaction rate on secondary features

User data measured in Amplitude.
